Case Study
Cinedeck plays a crucial role in supporting NASA Kennedy Space Center’s operations by recording multiple channels of essential data for review, distribution, and archiving purposes. If you’ve witnessed rocket launches from NASA KSC in recent years, it’s highly likely that the footage originated from a Cinedeck recording.
Our custom installation at NASA incorporates tailored XMLs for MAM integration, IRIG timecode support, and real-time JPEG2000 and H.264 encoding. During a launch, each of the hundred channels is recorded to both a primary and redundant local SSD in 30-minute segments. This approach ensures that live recordings are not reliant on the network and facilitates easy file management and transport.
Simultaneously, clips are check-summed and automatically copied to nearline storage, providing a seamless and continuous recording process. This case study highlights Cinedeck’s commitment to delivering reliable and efficient solutions tailored to the unique demands of organizations like NASA Kennedy Space Center.
